Mr Mahlangu holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering with the University of South Africa (UNISA) and is a registered member of ECSA. He spend the first 10 years of his career in the oil, petrochemical and automotive industries. He worked for leaders in these industries which includes the likes of SASOL, Robert Bosch, and Nissan SA while perusing his career in mechanical engineering.

Mr Mahlangu rose through the ranks and soon he was appointed Project Manager for SASOL annual plant total preventative maintenance (shut-downs) with a budget value of R15m.

Furthermore, he was appointed Project Leader for renewal/replacement projects of 2 distillation columns (vessels) from design to implementation phase. The project was valued at R35m.
